Messab
The Spiritual Purpose of ECKANKAR: "The aim and purpose of ECKANKAR is to take Soul by Its own path back to Its Divine Source." .............The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Book Two "The simple teaching of ECKANKAR is this: how to contact the Light and Sound of God, which has the power to give spiritual liberation in this lifetime." .....Harold Klemp, The Book of ECK Wisdom ECKANKAR'S goal is to help you find more spiritual freedom. You can do this through personal experience with the Light and Sound of God. ECKANKAR teaches that we can have this experience through simple spiritual exercises. Members of ECKANKAR come from many religious and social backgrounds, yet they share common goals: To know themselves as Soul and to serve God. What does this mean? It means to have an unlimited view of yourself and others as immortal, spiritual beings. It also means being true to yourself and living in harmony with all life. Messab
quote name='Luke_Wilbur' date='Jul 26 2006, 04:43 PM' post='19439'] Can you give us an example of how one can hear and see God? Eckankar can bring you direct personal experience with the Light and Sound of God--with this comes greater spiritual awareness. And with greater awareness you can be closer to God and live a happier, more satisfying life. Often called the Holy Spirit, the Light and Sound are twin aspects of God. Known in Eckankar as the ECK, It sustains all life. The Light of God has appeared to many saints and mystics. Saul of Tarsus had a dramatic encounter with the Light of God on the road to Damascus. Moses saw It in the burning bush. Eckankar teaches how to recognize the Light of God. Sometimes It comes as an inner scene or vision. It can be a flash of blue or white light. It appears in many ways. The Sound of God was the rushing wind that visited the disciples during Pentecost. Some hear It inwardly. It can be heard as rushing water; the single note of a flute; the music of violins, woodwinds, or bagpipes; or even the buzzing of bees. Eckankar teaches simple spiritual exercises to experience the Light and Sound of God. These exercises also help us Soul Travel, to move into greater states of consciousness. A spiritual exercise can be as simple as relaxing and singing the word HU, an ancient name for God. As we practice these spiritual exercises, we learn to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We learn that each of us is Soul, a spark of God sent to this world to gain spiritual experience. And as we unfold spiritually, we learn to express the love of God through service to others. HU: A Love Song to God Singing HU can: Expand your awareness Help you experience divine love Heal a broken heart Offer solace during times of grief Bring peace and calm HU -- A Spiritual Exercise Singing HU draws one closer to God: With eyes open or closed, take a few deep breaths to relax. Then begin to sing HU (pronounced "hue") in a long, drawn out sound, HU - U - U - U - U.... Take another breath and sing HU again. Continue for up to twenty minutes. Sing HU with a feeling of love, and it will gradually open your heart to God. "When your day is hard, remember to sing HU. It puts you back in line with the Holy Spirit." -------Harold Klemp, The Slow Burning Love of God, p. 25 For more information about ECKANKAR: Visit http://www.eckankar.org, call 1-800-LOVE-GOD, or contact D.C.-Area Centers listed above.
