A true comic genius and a man of the people, Paul Mooney makes his triumphant return to the 'chocolate city' at the one and only 9:30 Club. Paul's most recent appearances have been on BET's "Top 25 Most @#%!* Moments in Black History", TV Land and "The Dave Chappelle Show", where he is known as the infamous "Negrodamus". Mr. Mooney was also the head writer for Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx in addition to being the lead writer for "In Living Color" on which he created 'Homie the Clown'. His other television writing credits include episodes of "Good Times", "Sanford and Son", "Saturday Night Live", "The Richard Pryor Show", and "Roseanne" among others. He is also credited with writing on such films as "Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip", "JoJo Dancer" and Ice Cube and Chris Tucker's "Friday". In addition, Mr. Mooney has made appearances in the films "Bustin' Loose", "Hollywood Shuffle" and "Bamboozled" and television appearances on everything from "Soul Train" to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to "Politically Incorrect". Mr Mooney has been nominated for an Emmy for his writing on "Pryor's Place" and a Grammy. Mr. Dick Gregory is a brilliant comedian, leading civil rights activist, well received author of 15 books, recording artist with seven records, television and film personality, leading nutritionist, veteran of over 100 fasts and a man totally committed to non-violent social change. Mr. Gregory's contemporaries included Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, Medgar Evers, President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. Being one of the few members of The Movement still alive, Mr. Gregory is a walking history book. His candor combined with his world class political satire and humor make him one of the most celebrated and respected comics and men of our time. Chris Paul, who you hear every morning on WPGC 95.5's "Donnie Simpson Show" will be your host and MC for the evening. This brother is no comedy slouch himself and a DC Homeboy.
