Guest VictoriaLynn
Calling All Characters, Players, Actors … And Those Who Wish to Be. We Want You To Become A Part Of The Excitement And Magic That Is The Virginia Renaissance Faire! Produced by Out of the Woodwork, a non profit educationally oriented group, the Virginia Renaissance Faire is a high quality interactive edutainment experience. The faire requires a large cast of students, hobbyists, professionals, and volunteers each year to bring the little town of Staffordshire, England to life. This is the time for you to join our all-volunteer cast with open call auditions. We are looking for musicians, talent, military, nobles, and a variety of other street characters to fill our ranks and to become the inhabitants of Staffordshire. You do not need any prior theatrical experience – we will train and prepare you. Just bring yourself and a love of history, a playful spirit, a love of the arts, interest in a quality family time, or the desire to be part of something really special. The Virginia Renaissance Faire provides training in period history, improvisational theater, dialect, costuming and other reenacting and theatrical skills. There is no age limit for cast members though minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. As a 501©3 nonprofit organization for education, time spent with our faire family counts as community service hours for schools and scouts and is frequently accepted as extra school credit and college internships. Auditions Dates & Times: Jan. 7th, 10am-4pm - Melvin Snow Library (directions below) Jan. 28th, 10am-4pm - Melvin Snow Library Feb. 18th, 10am-12pm - Lake Anna Winery (directions below) followed by cast training until 4pm But I've Never Done Anything Like That Before! That's how we all started. Don't worry. Auditioning is easy. All you need to do is come in with about 90 seconds of memorized (or well-read) dialog (poem, play soliloquy, or a joke). Then you will be asked to sing about 8 bars of a song (your choosing, and we have had people sing instrumental pieces). Singing well is not a requirement; you just have to be willing to do it anyway. You never know what you can do until you try! Come early and meet some of the cast, find out about the various guilds we have and learn more about the VaRF project. Your audition only takes about 30 minutes. If you have any extra talents (instrumental music, juggling, magic) show us that as well! If you are chosen to be a member of our cast, you will be asked to return on February 18th for scripted auditions to be offered a position with the faire. Questions/ Need More Information? E-mail us at comeplay@varf.org. Not sure if you're ready for a cast position? The Virginia Renaissance Faire is also seeking many support volunteers, both before and during the show. We need help with construction, grounds crew, front gate, information booth staff and many other areas. Some positions are costumed and others are uniformed.
