Martin Kollar was born in Zilina, northern Slovakia. He graduated from the Academy of Music, Drama and Fine Arts in Bratislava in 1992. For many years, Kollar has photographed changes in his native country. Most recently, he was awarded the prestigious grant from the Association 3P, a European organization which recognizes outstanding photographic projects. An exhibition of his photographs has been traveling in the US under the auspices of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic.
