Guest Jim Manley
Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following statement on the actions of Senior Justice Department officials in the federal tobacco racketeering trial: “Donating to George Bush might be the best investment tobacco companies made last year. We learned today that Senior Justice Department officials, appointed by George Bush, overrode the objections of career attorneys running the federal tobacco racketeering trial, ordering them to reduce the penalties by more than $120 billion dollars. ”This gift to the tobacco industry, which donated almost $3 million to Republicans last year, is yet another abuse of power by an out-of-touch administration dead set on putting the needs of wealthy donors and far right wing radicals ahead of the American people.”
