Art on the Block is looking for 12 area artists to participate in a public art installation this spring/early summer. Artists will learn the art of mosaics and assist local residents for 4 to 6 workshops. The mosaics will decorate a new youth cafe, Watts Branch Park and the street curbs near Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave and Division Ave. NE. Use your artistic talents to make a difference. Informational meeting will be held on April 17th, at 2pm at the Washington Parks & People, Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th St., NW, Washington, DC, 20009 Join us! The mosaic is going to be made using ceramic, glass, mirror, marble, granite and metal. All techniques will be explained during an artist training which will occur before community workshops begin. The workshops will last 4 weeks (one day a week) and the install will occur over two days.
