Guest DCPagesAdmin
http://www.logancircle.org/news/news.asp In Memoriam The Logan Circle Community Association expresses our deepest sympathy to the families of two friends that we lost this past month: Noel Evans and Paul von Donop. Noel Evans, 46, wife of Councilmember Jack Evans (Ward 2) passed away September 12th after a long battle with cancer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 6-year-old triplets Katherine, John and Christine. Noel was active in political circles in Washington, DC, and met her husband at a a presidential primary event. They became friends and were married in 1994.. The family requests that memorials in Noel's honor be donated to either Sibley Memorial Hospital, 5255 Loughboro Road, NW, Washington, DC 20016 (www.sibley.org) or to The Washington Home and Community Hospices of Washington, 3720 Upton Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20016, Attn: Development Dept. (www.thewashingtonhome.org). Noel's family has organized a website in her honor, http://www.caringbridge.org/dc/evans, in which people are encouraged to share their memories of Noel. She will be greatly missed by many people in Washington, DC as well as family and friends in Florida and her hometown of Minneapolis, MN, where she was buried. Long time Logan Circle resident Paul von Donop, 50 passed away in September following a long illness. He served as Treasurer of the Logan Circle Community Association under both Deb Martens in 1998, and David Kiefrider in 2000. He and his wife, Vikki Vrooman, who both worked for the IRS, lived in the 1500 block of 12th Street for 15 years. Their lovely home was known for its garden, and was featured in the only "Logan Circle Home and Garden Tour." Paul was from a ranching background in Texas, and was very interested in family history. Deb Martens recalled many of the fascinating stories he used to share with her. Although he fell ill during his last tenure as Treasurer, he continued his duties unfailingly until the end of his term. He will be very missed in Logan Circle. Our condolences also to Bobby Gerber, who recently lost his father. Bobby was corresponding secretary for the LCCA for five years and kept everyone up to date via the newsletter.
