DC Broomball
Like broomball (or hockey), beer and legit Texas style BBQ? Well, then you'd probably really like DC Broomball North! Registration is now open for the league's winter 2012 season, which plays on Friday nights at the Rockville Ice Arena. We're looking for new players to join us! If you're unfamiliar with the game, broomball delivers the fun and excitement of hockey without needing to know how to skate. Broomball players run on the ice and try to use a "broom" to put a ball into the opposing team's net. The action and rules are VERY similar to hockey and is a great alternative for athletes that can't skate or are looking to try a new and exciting sport. Who makes a good broomball player? Well, athletes with backgrounds in hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, street hockey or hurling pick up the sport right away. However, you don't need to be an athlete to play. Just have an open mind, a willingness to learn and a desire to have a great time! DC Broomball North games are played Friday nights at 10PM. Following games, the league members go to local BBQ restaurant, Branded 72, for food, discounted beer specials and to enjoy live music. If you'd like to register for the winter season, which starts in early December, go to http://dcsocialsport.../broomball/2685. Hope to see you on the ice!
