wash_cp
CALLING ALL LOCAL ARTS & CRAFTS LOVERS! Crafty Bastards Showing Their Goodies (Washington, D.C.) The Columbia Heights Metro area will be transformed into an eclectic shopping bazaar on Saturday, October 2nd, when the Washington City Paper Classifieds Dept. hosts the first annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair. This isn’t your momma’s craft fair! Washington City Paper’s Crafty Bastards won’t feature traditional items like sweatshirts festooned with ironed kitten decals or tasteful wooden wreaths. Instead, expect to find amusing objects such as Rotting Elvis Sculptures, Tampon Dolls, Sex Boxes, Ninja Necklaces, unique handbags & oodles of other oddities. More conventional clothing, jewelry, accessories, household items, pottery, furniture & decorative pieces will be available as well. ”This event is all about the independent artist,” says Crafty’s WCP rep Kimberly Dorn. “It isn’t just a craft fair, it's a full-day festival including live music, goodies from local food vendors, face painting, and games!” Entertainment will include belly dancers, tarot card readings, massage, the Squished Penny Museum and an hourly raffle. Snacks & refreshments will be on hand throughout the event. Check out the Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair at the Columbia Heights Marketplace at 14th & Irving (right next to the Columbia Heights Metro station) between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, October 2nd. For more info on how to get your craft on call 202/332-2100 ext. 337 or visit www.washingtoncitypaper.com/craftybastards.
