Guest Adnan Darwash
Un-ashamedly, the Israelis claim that they have the right to fire on Palestinians and to kill or injure scores because they came close to their borders. They also claim that all countries do the same if some-one tries to cross their borders. The Israelis seem to forget two major issues: 1.Thousands of refugees come close to the borders of UK, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Ireland, USA and Australia every single day but no-one is being shot let alone killed. Civilised countries don’t do such crimes. However, this was a common practice in the days of the defunct Nazi Germany or in the former Soviet Union. 2.The Golan Heights and the West Bank of Jordan are illegally occupied territories and people have the right to go back to their own homes; no matter what the USraelis want the world to believe. Since the Golan Heights and the West Bank were taken by the force of arms, the Israeli position may be compared to that of the armed Robbers who fire at the police in self-defence. Despite over 70 years since that Israeli armed robbery took place, no-Palestinian has forgotten his land and its his legitimate right to use all means to get his rights stipulated in 39 UN Security Council Resolutions, which the Israelis are in breach of.
