We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

 

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement'.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.” That is outrageous! How will we Colored People ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?

 

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

When I was healing in the hospital from major surgery I saw alot of Discrimination against Latinos by African Americans.

 

Of course me being the nice and mellow Latino that I am, I armed my group with information coming out the Ying Yang.

 

You know; Lawyers, civil rights groups, radio stations, t.v. stations on both the right and left sides of the aisles.

 

I even started an adorable e-mail mailing list for ALL latinos working with in that Hospital to make real sure that, that practice stops.

 

It is sad to see that your group does not practice what it preaches.

Or press seven to give $25 to FreedomWorks, the advocacy organization headed by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey that sponsored the July 13 call, said Matt Kibbe, the group’s president.

 

Even as candidates such as Paul tout their anti- establishment credentials, much of their financial clout comes from veteran Republicans such as Armey, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint and onetime U.S. Representative Chris Chocola, who aim to reshape their party.

 

“This movement is a hostile takeover of the Republican Party,” Kibbe said of the Tea Party, a loose collection of activists who favor lower taxes, government spending cuts and the repeal of a law overhauling U.S. health care.

 

FreedomWorks, which also advocates less government and lower taxes, hosted some 50 Tea Party activists in Washington last weekend to train them in organizing, such as going door-to- door to help candidates challenging established Republicans in this year’s elections. Many activists are also vying for positions on local Republican Party committees.

 

“Starting a third party is not the answer,” said Ana Puig, co-leader of the Kitchen Table Patriots, a group in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, that joined in the training. “We have to work with the party that is most closely aligned with us.”

 

Nod From Palin

 

Republicans such as Armey, 70, DeMint, 58, and Palin, 46, help put challengers on the Tea Party’s radar screen through e- mails, social-networking sites and conference calls. Armey’s group says it has 576,000 e-mail addresses and 230,000 Facebook friends.

 

Palin, the 2008 Republican nominee for vice president, has amassed her own Facebook army of almost 2 million followers and is endorsing congressional candidates around the country. A nod from Palin for Joe Miller, who is taking on Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski in the Aug. 24 Republican primary, gave him higher name recognition among Tea Party supporters, activists say.

 

Talk radio and blogs tout those candidates and make them “the ones the small donors get excited about,” said Joe Wierzbicki, coordinator of the Tea Party Express, whose parent group is the largest Tea Party political action committee.

 

Besides giving directly to the campaigns, some supporters donate to groups including the antitax Club for Growth, based in Washington and headed by former Indiana Republican Representative Chocola, and DeMint’s PAC, which forward the cash to the candidates.

 

‘Handiwork’ of Professionals

 

DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund raised $75,380 in June for Ken Buck, a county district attorney in Colorado, and spent $136,853 on his behalf through July 26. That helped Buck defeat former Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton this week in the state’s Republican U.S. Senate primary.

 

“The Tea Party movement is the handiwork of professional politicians rather than a ‘spontaneous’ grassroots effort,” said Linda Fowler, a professor of government at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. “Inevitably, when a political party loses the White House, a battle rages over who will control its future.”

 

At the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington in February, Armey’s group endorsed Utah lawyer Mike Lee for the Senate over Robert Bennett, a Republican seeking his fourth term. The Club for Growth spent more than $180,000 against the incumbent. DeMint’s PAC raised $59,334 for Lee in June, contributed $5,000 to his campaign and spent $133,458 on his behalf through July 26. Lee won the June primary.

 

Small Donations

 

Much of that money comes from small donations. One-third of the $2.1 million raised by DeMint’s PAC and almost half the $182,428 collected by FreedomWorks from January through June this year were from donations of less than $200, U.S. Federal Election Commission data show.

 

In Kentucky, Paul, 47, raised $3.5 million through June 30, with $1.6 million, or 46 percent, in contributions of less than $200. His Democratic opponent, state Attorney General Jack Conway, raised $3.4 million, with 7 percent, $234,536, from donations under $200.

 

Former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio, the likely Republican U.S. Senate candidate, collected $11.2 million through June, with $4.1 million, 37 percent, in small donations. Rubio was boosted by Tea Party support, prompting a rival for the party’s Senate nomination, Governor Charlie Crist, to run as an independent. Crist took in 2 percent of his $12 million from small donors.

 

‘More Like Them’

 

Tea Party supporters were key to former state lawmaker Sharron Angle’s win in the June 8 Nevada Republican Senate primary. The Tea Party Express spent more than $500,000 on behalf of Angle, who is facing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in November.

 

Angle reported raising $3.5 million, with $2.1 million in donations of less than $200, through June 30. Reid raised $19.2 million, with $1.3 million, 7 percent, from small donors.

 

“The Tea Party movement fits neatly within the right wing of the Republican Party,” said Gary Jacobson, a political science professor at the University of California in San Diego. People like Armey and DeMint see it “as a vehicle for making the Republican Party more like them.”

 

As for the July 13 conference call for Paul, FreedomWorks said it collected more than $10,000. Paul’s campaign manager Jesse Benton called it “a strong online fundraising day.”

Mark Williams, who recently resigned in disgrace as Tea Party Express spokesman, exclusively tells CNN that he is rejoining the conservative grassroots movement. As Williams revealed his new plans he also took a swipe at the Tea Party movement for not being able to move beyond "the cheerleading stage."

 

Williams revealed, first to CNN, that he is helping to form a political action committee that will channel "Tea Party passion" into electing conservative candidates.

 

Williams said the effort will be called the "Citizens Reclaiming Constitutional Liberties PAC." He told CNN that paperwork is currently being filed to establish the group and that it should be up and running by August 16. From there, the PAC will proceed in raising seed money and finding candidates it deems conservative enough, Williams said.

 

"We'll be looking for…conservative young people who have something to offer, something to say and don't identify, in some cases, with either party," Williams told CNN in an exclusive interview.

 

The effort will first focus on helping candidates in California, where Williams is based. But the long-term focus will be on putting conservative politicians in office who will be reliable conservatives for years to come.

 

"You don't elect anybody to the White House in [the year] 2030 unless you elect …a dog catcher in 2010," Williams said. "We're fielding conservative candidates outside of the Republican Party structure because the Republican Party can't be trusted."

 

"Both parties, frankly, have just become so corrupt with special interests that we need new blood," Williams added.

 

The former Tea Party Express spokesman also took aim at the larger movement, saying it's effectively riled people up – but has not done much with that energy.

 

"What we're looking to do is channel all of this into something more constructive than standing around at rallies and yelling and just cheerleading," Williams said. "You know the Tea Party thing … the feeling a lot of us had was that the thing had stalled at the cheerleading stage. And we were being bombarded with people asking us, 'Ok, we're worked up, we believe you, we're informed – now what do we do."

The clear truth is that they couldn’t care less about your guns, your religion, abortion or solving the long standing problem of illegal immigration. To be even more specific and to the point, they are ruthlessly and shamelessly exploiting the subconscious fears of the American white middle class who see their majority social standing slowing slipping away and are shaken to the core by the fact that there is a black family living in the white house. But all these wealthy corporate special interests really care about is getting YOU worked up about taxes and business regulation, things that they wish to reduce at YOUR expense, while the real truth is that YOUR taxes are relatively low and business regulation only serves to protect YOU from being exploited and abused by THEM and their mindless obsession with amassing enormous wealth and pursuing policies whose only purpose is to protect and expand their bottom line profits regardless of the devastating costs of these policies to society in general.

 

These are the same policies which continue, even as we speak, to export so many of YOUR formerly good paying middle class American jobs right under your noses under the guise of “Free Trade”, to overseas “developing markets” which is nothing more than their euphemism for CHEAP LABOR! The cheaper the better!! And with regards to the myth that tax cuts create jobs, one only need look back to very recent history [2001-2008] to see how well that theory worked. When Bush left office we were bleeding jobs to the tune of 700,000 per month despite the massive tax cuts for the rich that they enacted. But if even that doesn’t help sharpen your focus perhaps the recent declaration of Alan Greenspan, a very prominent and very conservative economist, on national television [Meet the Press] that tax cuts do NOT pay for themselves and do NOT create jobs will help set the record straight and dispel this myth once and for all.

 

But the ultimate, mad, insane reality of the whole situation is that once these giant, insatiable corporations have totally eviscerated the American middle class, the golden goose of the global economy, there will be nobody left of any consequence to purchase and consume their products. At that point, they too will crumble into dust as the “emerging markets” they are so eagerly helping to create take control of that global economy leaving America to wither and rust on the trash heap of history.

 

We so often hear the rallying cry of “no socialism in America” by people who don’t have the first clue what socialism really means or wouldn’t recognize a socialist program if it fell on them. Government involvement in helping to solve difficult social issues has been going on in this country for generations to the great benefit of the vast majority of middle class Americans and has in NO WAY created any danger of America becoming a socialist or even a socialist leaning country. Meanwhile, a much greater threat to the fabric of our society is the aura of corporate fascism, the force of which we are firmly in the grip of even now . This is evidenced by out-of-control corporate special interest lobbying of Congress plus the new factor of Supreme Court sanctioned unlimited corporate campaign contributions which will give these massive special interest giants control over our government like never before. Those of you with dictionaries and who are still capable of independent, objective reasoning can look up both words, “socialism” and “fascism”, and decide for yourselves which evil has the greater grip on our society at this moment in time.

 

So how, you may properly ask, does health insurance reform fit into any of this? Well, the answer is very simple actually. “It’s the economy stupid!” The first thing that we need to do is to realize that when discussing this issue, we are actually talking about two separate and distinct entities. Entity #1 is the private health CARE industry that provides the medical treatments and services; doctors, hospitals, clinics, &etc., and entity #2 is the totally separate and completely unconnected health INSURANCE industry. Part of the twisted propaganda that one constantly hears from our ultra radical right wing friends is that the government is trying to take over health care while in fact, there is not the first shred of evidence to support such a claim. In reality, almost every argument that is used against government financing of health care, which is all that Medicare and the new reform legislation is all about, is ironically true ONLY of the private for-profit corporate health insurance industry itself who DOES actually control our health care system to the great detriment of our society. The most glaring example of one of these false arguments concerns the issue of so-called “death panels”. The great corporate distortion machine through their ultra right-wing political spokespersons tried with all of their very impressive might to convince the American public during and after the last presidential political campaign that the proposed health insurance reform legislation somehow allowed for panels of government bureaucrats to decided if people were going to live or die by withholding or granting permission for certain life saving medical procedures. Of course when the real truth came out, no such provision was ever contemplated nor does any such thing exist in our current Medicare system. In reality however, such decisions are ROUTINELY made by private health insurance company bureaucrats who’s specific job is to find ways to deny treatments, even those that are life saving in nature. The record overflows with horror story after horror story that this industry creates year after year of deaths and bankruptcies caused only by private health insurance company business practices which are formulated with only ONE very single minded goal and that goal is to create corporate profits.

 

People say that we have the best health care system in the world; that people travel far and wide to come to America for treatment. While this argument is partially correct in several respects, in actuality this “reality” is no where as true as it once was. America spends almost twice per capita as any other country in the world on health care yet actually ranks way down the list that measures outcomes in some very important categories. The reason for this is really quite simple. While we do have a system that provides excellent quality care, clearly some of the best in the world, that care is rationed out to only those that can afford the ever spiraling costs for it and every year that number continues to dwindle as these costs skyrocket out of sight. In any event there is no legitimate reason to fear that real health insurance reform will in any way reduce the quality of American medicine. In fact a much stronger argument could be made for the fact that it could actually improve it as billions of dollars of resource could be diverted from wasted corporate overhead and devoted instead to actual medical care instead. Here’s how that works:

The private for-profit health insurance industry imposes a massive and unnecessarily complex burden on our private health care providers by creating an umbrella of 1300 separate and unique administrative systems, one for each private insurance company, to which our doctors, clinics and hospitals must devote huge amounts of time, energy and money to deal with. But here’s what really happens. All insurance companies do is move huge amounts of money around the board taking it from you, giving a portion of it to the health care providers and then skimming off enormous amounts of it for themselves in the process as it passes through their hands. This is where the money comes from for their enormous overhead and profits. It is the primary reason why we in America pay so much more for health care that ANY other country in the world. But to support this incredibly insane system, THIS INDUSTRY WILL DRAIN APPROXIMATELY $400 BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY FROM OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AND CONTRIBUTE NOT ONE NICKEL, NOT ONE PENNY OF VALUE IN RETURN!!!!! That’s right! Health insurance companies are NOTHING but expensive, grossly overpaid money changers. The government, on the other hand under such programs such as Medicare for example, can do exactly the same thing that these private insurance companies do but at a SMALL FRACTION of the cost.

 

While it is clearly unlikely that America will ever turn to a completely single-payer system of national health insurance, if it ever chose to do so, the savings to our economy would be an immediate and staggering $4 to $6 Trillion Dollars over the next succeeding decade at today’s dollar value. But the simple truth is that EVERY other country in the world besides ours has some kind of national health insurance system that guarantees at least a basic level of medical care to all of its residents. Those that can afford more can simply purchase it or purchase private supplemental policies that provide it. Are they all perfect, problem free systems? By no means, but none of their problems come even close to the ones that our system creates and at the very least, NOBODY is allowed to die in the street or be forced into bankruptcy to support corporate profits in ANY other country in the world but OURS!

So the question we ask is simply this. If competition in the capitalist market place is such a good thing, and of course we all agree that it is, then WHY NOT HAVE SOME REAL COMPETITION IN OUR OWN HEALTH INSURANCE MARKET PLACE BY SIMPLY ELIMINATING THE AGE 65 REQUIREMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN MEDICARE AND ALLOWING ANYONE THAT WANTS TO BUY COMPETITIVELY PRICED MEDICARE POLICIES DO SO? The benefits from such a move would be enormous. To begin with, the infusion of billions of new premium dollars from a younger, healthier population would all but eliminate any funding problems Medicare is now facing without one additional penny of taxes being required. At the same time, the private health insurance companies will have to scale back their outrageous premiums and business practices to compete making their products much more affordable and beneficial. How is this not a win-win-win situation for the American people and our economy in general?

 

But as we saw during the recent health care debates, none of these things will ever come about without massive and overwhelming public pressure to make it happen. So why don’t we all, all of us who earn less that $250,000 per year, us “little” people, step back from the edge, sit down and reason together to find real life compromise solutions for all of the major issues that are dragging this country down the path to ruin and then move on to a happy future for us all. It’s really that simple. Once we get all of the selfish special interests out of the picture and clear the air of all of the crazy over-the-top-rhetoric the task will become much more simple and easy to accomplish. We the people, you and I, are the real strength of this country and economy, and together, conservative and progressive alike, CAN join hands to revive the slowly fading American dream and restore our country to that shining city on a hill that President Reagan told us that it was.

Fact is that the People have been divided by two parties for decades that have failed to uphold the needs of their presumed constituents. Neither party represents what the left and right want. They need to change or they need to be destroyed. They have stolen a responsive government by dividing us with social issues, and in the power gap, have perpetuated their hold on power by bribing us to gain reelection with earmarks, inside deals, special access, lobbyists, bundled campaign contributions from organizations, both corporate and union), leading to government contracts and favored regulation. Paid for by taxing us as much as politically feasible and when that road is closed, borrowing trillions of dollars. This source too is now running out.

 

Just because someone disagrees with you, does not make them evil or wrong. Nor do you need to string a row of epithets against them. While it may make you feel better, it does not do anything constructive. Because you believe something is right, does not make it so. You may feel it does, and you may listen to a bunch of similar thinking, clever, talking heads, but that does not make it objectively correct.

“Last night we got a disturbing view into the Tea Party’s extreme right-wing position on health care when members of the audience clapped and cheered the idea of letting someone without health insurance die. Even worse, none of the Republican candidates on stage expressed a word of disapproval as the Tea Party audience literally clapped for blood. This was a spectacle one would have expected back in the gladiatorial combat of ancient Rome, not at a presidential debate.

 

“This moment is a test of whether those who aspire to the office of the President of the United States have the leadership abilities to stand up to the extreme Tea Party elements that we saw on sickening display last night. The Republican candidates should condemn the extreme and un-American value of letting people die, as should the Tea Party Express and other Tea Party organizations.”

The morning after a sometimes-rocky appearance in front of a Tea Party debate audience, Gov. Rick Perry said he was "taken aback" by cheers from some crowd members on a hypothetical question of whether a young man who decides not to buy health insurance should be refused care if he develops a life-threatening illness and be left to die.

 

"I was a bit taken aback by that myself," Perry told NBC News and the Miami Herald after appearing at a breakfast fundraiser in Tampa.

 

"We're the party of life. We ought to be coming up with ways to save lives."
