Guest Micah Shearer
Do you want to make a difference and have a positive impact on the lives of under-served Asian-American youth in Washington, D.C. or Montgomery county? Volunteer as a tutor for one of Asian American LEAD's After-school Programs! AALEAD is a non-profit organization that provides educational and youth development programs to under-served Asian American youth in the DC/MD area. Our diverse staff and team of volunteers deliver after-school programs, one-on-one mentoring, academic support services and life-skills development for students. We also assist parents with school-related issues affecting their children. AALEAD's goal is to provide a nurturing environment and culturally-sensitive guidance, so that each child we serve will be a contributing member of his or her community. In December of 2008, we were featured by the Washingtonian magazine as one of the DC area's 64 best charities!
