Guest ALWAYS RED_*
Is this a sign that Iraqi discipline is already beginning to unravel? ************************************************************ Coalition forces were attacked by small-arms fire while on a joint dismounted patrol in an Iraqi Army compound at approximately noon Nov. 12. Initial reports indicate the attacker was an Iraqi soldier who was hiding in a building when he engaged the patrol. Two Soldiers were killed and six others were wounded in the attack. The Iraqi soldier was killed in the counter attack. The incident is under full investigation and details will be released when they become available. “This attack is believed at this time to have been conducted by a lone Iraqi soldier. The other IA soldiers in the area immediately came to the assistance of the CF and provided medical evacuation,” said Col. Bill Buckner, spokesman for the Multi-National Corps – Iraq. “The coalition forces involved in this incident have worked with the IA unit for a long time in strong partnership and we will uncover what happened leading up to the incident.” “Coalition forces have a strong and committed relationship with the IA. This partnership has resulted in a plummeting level of violence and enhanced security for Mosul and the Ninewa province.” The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and official release by the Department of Defense.
