Guest Marthena Cowart
The Department of Interior Office of Inspector General (DOI-OIG) has made publicly available three reports on a wide-ranging scandal at DOI’s Minerals Management Services (MMS). The DOI-OIG’s investigation uncovered highly inappropriate relations between MMS officials and energy industry employees. These allegations provide insight into how MMS has failed in its mission to collect royalties owed on federal oil and gas leases on behalf of taxpayers.
