Lula: Brazil wants OPEC membership

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva says his nation wants to join OPEC to help bring down oil prices, a German magazine says.

 

Lula said in the interview published in Der Spiegel news magazine that his nation plans to exploit massive deep-water oil reserves discovered near Rio de Janeiro.

 

"Then Brazil will become a major oil exporter," Silva said in an advance copy of the interview to be published Saturday. "We want to join OPEC and to try to make oil cheaper."

 

Brazil's proven oil reserves are 11.8 billion barrels, according to the U.S. Energy Department.

 

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is a group of nations headquartered in Vienna that meets regularly to try to ensure stability of prices in international oil markets.

I hope that at least this Administration is more prepared as to the global politics being played then the National politics being played out to date.

 

Since Global Politics is much more complicated then national politics.

One last thing; We Republicans ARE going to have to help out this Administration when it comes to international politics, because it's in ALL of our best interest.

With Brazil having large Uranium deposits; It’s a problem in trying to stop Iran from developing the bomb.

 

The only thing that you can bribe Brazil with is that the people of the United States will NOT export to the Middle East.

 

But then again that would be self defeating.

 

The cotton dispute was just an excuse to go down there to try to persuade the Brazilians.

You still don't understand how all of this is inter-connected do you?

When the Clintons were in office they pulled all but the most essential funding from Latin America.

 

This of course was like dropping an Economic Atomic bomb on Latin America.

Here comes Barack Obama, and who does he appoint to oversee Latin America? A Clinton.

 

Now do you or anyone else think that Latin America has forgotten what happened during the Clinton years? Do the words "Not a Chance in Heck" mean anything to you?
