The tremor struck at about 1:30 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicenter was about 1 mile west-southwest of Annandale. There have been no reports of damage or injuries. Magnitude is a number that characterizes the relative size of an earthquake. According to the Geological Survey's Web site, earthquakes with magnitude of about 2.0 or less are usually called microearthquakes. They are not commonly felt by people and are generally recorded only on local seismographs.
