Strand By Strand Hair Fusion Technique

Hey Valencia i have a few questions about the fusion process. I took a look at the photo album of bad fusion jobs and my biggest fear is my hair looking like that! lol

Anyways...what do you think was the biggest factors that played a part in bad fusion jobs? Is it the type of hair? the bonding method? the products used to bond? Just wondering.

Also what color is the glue or wax(I think thats what its called) used? Is it the color of the person's hair? Ive read that it can turn white...is that true?

Sorry for the 101 questions. B)

No problem, I love questions. The main factor is type of fusion bond used, polywax almost always ripp at the hair during the removal process and cannot be oiled, improper application is the second biggest factor. I determine the color of bond according to the clients hair color, only polywax and the cheap stuff can and will turn white with wear.

Thank You for your response

Hi my name is Latosha and I am in the military and I will be station up at Ft.Meade next Aug and I know that its nine months away but I will like to know:

How much the infusion process cost?

Is there a special kind of hair that I need and if so how much is it ?

Is it a certain length your hair have to be for the infusio to look natural?

How much is the touch-up and how often do you have to get them done?

I read one of the post and and said that someone in Laurel, MD does the infusion can I know who it is and where is the salon located..

I know I have more questions but can't think of them all right now but any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. :D

You can also reach me at my home email address shortsassy_fine@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance

Hello Valencia, I would also love it if you could pleace e-mail me the answers to these questions. I would like to have my hair done the first week of march, but I really would like this information before I make an appointment.

I would also like to know how often I will need to come in for maintenance and about how much that would cost.

Thank you so much in advance,

Tanisha

I am interested in the strand by strand fusion but I have had friends tell me that they are itchy towords the lower back of the head where the most strands are. Is this normal? I have read that it may be due to shampoo/conditioner/product buildup. Please let me know my email is malindacarsner@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Please remember that if you do not post an email as a contact when you write on the message boards, and you have not created an account, then it is impossible for anyone to be able to send you a message to answer your question or to provide you service. :P

Valencia is in the MD/DC area and she has alot of clients that come in from all over the country to get their hair done.

Her daughter (who was trained by her and is an excellent fusion specialist) also does fusion in the same area.

Email Valencia at hairbyvalencia@yahoo.com or you can contact Shauney (her daughter) at fusionsbyshauney@yahoo.com. She also has several students around that area and in some areas of the country.

If you are willing to travel to get your hair done, definitely send an email to one of those addresses.

Hope this helps!

Hello Ladies,

I charge a flat fee of $400. plus the cost of hair. The average cost of the hair is $45.00 a bundle for the straight and $50.00 a bundle for the wavy & Kinky curl, 15-18 inches only the price is slightly higher for longer lengths and keep in mind you need 2 bundles to do a full head.

I like to work with hair that is at least 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, the system is undetectable but the longer your hair the more options you have.

Touch-up's average $40.00.

I hope this helps

Thank You for your response

If someone were to run there hands across or through my hair would they beable to feel little bumps from the bond?

If someone run their hand across your head no, but through your hair yes, unless the hair is growing from the scalp there has to be a point of attachment, fusion is undetectable to the eye only. Please don't go into this with unrealistic expectations or let people mislead you.

Okay ladies, I got a song on my HEART!!! and I have to let this testimony GO!!

I, like many of you searched the internet in hopes to find solutions to our hair issues. In my case, I have very thick, yet resilent hair and I couldn't stand having to style it everyday. Also, I recently relocated from the midwest to Maryland (hence the name) and although going home to the Hair Capital of the World to get your weave done is a bit extra... I was almost willing to book that flight.

I came across Valencia's site, read this message board, emailed her my questions. I was concerned about the process taking my hair out, will the hair blend with my hair, will it shed, WILL I HAVE TO KNOCK OVER A 7/11 TO PAY FOR IT?

:sigh:

Valencia answered my questions, and made me feel confident that she knew what was doing. I called my hair supplier back in Detroit to ship me my usual and I made my appointment.

First visit: Not only was my hair BANGIN when I left, I just couldn't wrap my mind on how inexpensive it was. I was paying folks like Cool C, Sonia M. and Mr. Little (Detroit hair moguls) about the same for a full head sew in... I was loving life!

But....

After seeing Valencia's stylist, she noticed my hair was shedding, I belived it was totally all my fault and I was prepared to take responsiblity for it all...WITHIN 24 HOURS OF GETTING UP FROM HER STYLISTS CHAIR, VALENCIA CALLED ME AND HAD ME COME IN FOR A RE-DO...

Now ladies, ask yourself, when was the last time your beautician called YOU?!

Come to find out, the hair that I swear by from home is treated and does not work well with the bond. I have only gotten sew ins in the past and never had a fusion tecnique done, so I had no idea. This time, I ordered my hair from Remy Hair Today and was ready to rock and roll.

...That was back in late September early October. Since then I have permed my hair, color rinsed my hair, and have noticed almost a half inch of growth. I have not noticed any shedding. When I want it super straight, I take out my ceramics and flat iron it (stay away from the bond of course). When I want to wear it wavy, I braid it up before I go to bed, I never have to worry about the wind blowing to hard! I just got my hair done over, yesterday this time I did the curly remy... and frankly.. I look PAINFULLY good. Seriously, it's almost embarassing how well my hair looks.

So, in conclusion... I am proud to say, that I am a REGULAR customer of Valencia's, and anyone who looks at me in disbelief when I tell them "thanks sweetie, but it's not mine", or ask to dig in my hair to "see it" always asks for Valencia's number. Now if that's not a testiment to good work, I don't know what is.

You got a client for life Valenica.

Much love,

Hello, I'm so glad to have found this message board filled with detailed information about the fusion technique ... (Thank you Valencia!). I've read about 99% of the posts and learned a great deal. I was going to post this response directly to Valencia but thought there maybe other women out there with the problem I have; which is hereditary baldness in the crown of my head, which is pinch'able. I'm sadden to found out I wouldn't be a candidate for this method due to my hair in that area being short (my hairstyle overall is flat ironed/flipped). I was wondering; however, what would you recommend for a client with hair dilema?

Thank you again for your expertise and this forum. Good looking out! :D

I don't have anyone in your area at the moment but working at it, one of my goals is to put a student in every state....I recommend that you have it done by a specialist (NO POLYWAX) keritin protein bonds are the best and make sure the hair is top quality I have found that Remy Virgin Indian Hair is best, don't be fooled by stylist using Remy Hair not that it is bad hair but it is not the same, so please inspect the hair before application during the consultation.

LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The popularity of fusion extensions grow daily by leaps and bounds so you need to be even more vigilant when choosing a specialist. Please ask questions about your concerns and study the specialist work, why should you pay to be practiced on, and don't allow them to rush you through your consultation. Keep in mind if you pay attention it is human nature for a person to reveal themselves if you push the right buttons. Make sure they are about customer service and not customer dollars. Make sure they are willing to fix any and all problems that may occur. The biggest problem I have with some so called specialist is they take your hard earned money with a smile and if you have a problem it is another story I see and hear it almost everyday and it breaks my heart. I have said this over and over again and will continue BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! Don't over pay a stylist for sub-par work and let them get away with it.

As many of you know I only offer fusion services, that is by choice. I have been in this business for MANY years and out of all the services that I have performed I love doing fusion the most. I have worked very hard to build my clientele, reputation and craft and that has afforded me to specialize in the service of my choice. Believe me most stylist work toward the same goal, that is what make a specialist. I only instruct certified stylist because not only do you need to try it all in order to know what you are best at but you also need a good foundation, when you realize what you are best at the next step is perfecting it. Some say that I have limited myself but I look at it as perfecting my craft.

THANK YOU

Valencia

Hi Valencia,

I am so glad that I found your site!! My birthday is coming up next month and I have decided that I want to do something for myself. I live in Waldorf and am very interested in having this done. After reading alot of the posts I am confident that this will be a good choice for me. How do I set up a consultation? I am wondering about the right kind of hair to choose, availability, what kind of candidate I am, etc.

Thank you!

Hi Nia,

I am not how to answer your question. From my personal experience what Valenica does to my hair does NOT damage my hair. She does not use wax or bond on my hair.

You just spray a mixture on the "stuff" that bonds the human hair to my hair and it just SLIPS off!!!

I style and take care of this hair as if it's my own hair. I can't tell it's not my hair!

Too bad you are not here in the states. Valenica can do some serious hair!

IT IS WONDERFUL!!

Hello Valencia,

I am a very vivacious spontaneous career woman who loves the excitement of hair versatility and fashion. About 5 or more years ago I went natural. I must admit it was an uphill battle but it was well worth the journey. I tried double strand twists, the straw set and for the past 2 years I have been styling my own hair (and coloring it). I believe my hair type is 4b/c because it's coarse and slightly kinky with an "s" curl pattern (see the picture on the RIGHT below). Actually that picture and the length looks like me from behind. Unfortunately my hair will not grow beyond 3-4 inches. Therefore I no longer have the versatility of pulling it in a ponytail (as when I had shoulder length relaxed hair), flat ironing it etc., The only style (of choice) is the natural curly ringlet look which I love and everyone else loves on me (men and women). Unfortunately, over the years I dread doing my hair because the entire process takes about 3 hours whenever I have to wash, twist, let dry, and then about an hour to untwist and style.

My question is... can the fusion technique be used on natural hair? Can I get the same curly funky (but 10" longer) look that I love AND hopefully relieve me of dealing with my OWN HAIR with as little maintenance as possible with the weaved and/or Fushion hair. In order to get the Fusion hair do I have to relax my hair (which isn't an option for me)? Most of the photos I've seen on your photo gallery look like women with relaxed or biracial hair. I tried a hair weave in the 90's but it wasn't professionally done and you could see the tracks at my forehead so I had to wear bangs and kept overlapping my relaxed hair at the hairline etc.,

I know that I could get a full hairweave with human bohemian curly hair because I have seen that look on the internet on some natural hair weave websites. I believe they may have to braid all my hair and then weave in this bohemian curly hair thus giving me the "freedom" so that I can wash and go! After 5 years of twisting, coloring etc., I get depressed just thinking about the process of doing my own hair (its just to time consuming). Besides I "long" for my hair blowing in the wind and with body, movement and bounce!

Below is a picture of Rachel True from the UPN show Half & Half. That look (but not as wild) is what inspired me to go natural. No... I am not biracial (like the actress) but I simply have a passion to get this look and to have tremendous fun with the versatility of pulling it back in a ponytail or pinning it up in a bun and having some hair trickle down around my hairline framing my face. The thought of wash and go hair is a dream for me at this point. The picture to the right is pretty much like my hair is right now which is about 3 to 4 inches short, with tight rinklets (similar to a straw set).

If the Fusion look must be done on permed hair, can you perhaps recommend a highly professional hair extension specialist for weaving and hair extensions? Are there newer techniques for weaving hair now or do they still have to braid your hair? Is Bohemian hair out dated and replaced by a Fresh look on the market like this Remy Hair I heard mentioned on your message board? Last month a stylist did showed me some human wavy hair like the actress Joan on the t.v. sitcom Girlfriends. IT WAS GORGEOUS! I love Joan's natural curly looking hair which reflects my sophisticated lifestyle.

Please advise... and by the way... I appreciate your candid words of wisdom on the message board.

P.S.

Sorry... the picture I had attached DID NOT forward on this message board
