This year's theme, "Reflections: Moving Businesses From Success to Significance," encourages businesses to move from being successful companies to significant enterprises that generations to come will remember. The keynote message will be delivered by R. Donahue Peebles, CEO of his multi billion-dollar real estate development firm, and best selling author of The Peebles Principals. The Small Business Initiative will honor outstanding Prince George's County firms during its third anniversary of providing service to the local, small and minority business community. The statistics regarding the program's accomplishments are impressive. The program has been able to help businesses build their capacity to be competitive in the Washington DC marketplace, and to gain access to more than $61 million in capital and contract opportunities. This event will celebrate major accomplishments, highlight new county initiatives, and introduce new public/private partnerships. Reflections: Moving Businesses From Success to Significance "Helping businesses understand the importance of completing the cycle of success, by reinvesting people is very important to me," said Charlotte Ducksworth, SBI Director. "One of the most important ingredients to inspire companies to reach for higher levels of operation is an example of a successful businessperson who has also become 'significant' through his generosity and creation of legacy wealth." R. Donahue Peebles' will share lessons that he has learned on the road to building his successful company and personal fortune. The principals distilled from his life lessons will benefit entrepreneurs in any industry. "The SBI staff has done an exceptional job of fulfilling their mission to increase access to contracts and expand the capacity of county businesses," said Kwasi Holman, President/CEO of EDC.
