Guest Leonard-Chambers, Victoria
On Thursday, September 27, Ward 5 Councilmember Harry “Tommy” Thomas, Jr. will launch the first in a series of ANC roundtable meetings. The purpose of the meetings is to bring coordinated, consistent service delivery to all Ward 5 neighborhoods, and to hear directly from residents regarding their needs and concerns. The initial meeting will be held in Trinidad with residents from the following ANCs: 5B05, 5B06, 5B07, 5B08, 5B10, 5B11, and 5B12. Meeting details are summarized below. The department heads of all major D.C. agencies-including MPD, DCRA, DDOT, DCHA, and DPW-have been invited to the meeting as part of Thomas’ initiative to promote coordinated and consistent service delivery across Ward 5. “While the city has done a good job of blitzing particular neighborhoods with heightened attention and services in response to crises, we need to begin to raise the bar on the level of services that all Ward 5 residents receive. My plan is to hold regular meetings with residents to connect them with agency representatives, as well as provide residents with an opportunity to outline their specific needs and concerns,” said Thomas.
